Bitwise and NYSE Arca Apply for Approval of a Bitcoin ETF
Bitwise and NYSE Arca have filed for approval of a Bitcoin ETF despite the obstacles being imposed by the US SEC on firms applying for a Bitcoin ETF approval. The team intends to tackle some of the issues which prevented the approval of other Bitcoin ETFs. One of these actions includes the custody of Bitcoins by a licensed third-party custodian. Additionally, the price index will be calculated by taking into account an exchange's trading volume; evading the problem of manipulation of prices by using small volume crypto exchanges to manipulate prices artificially. This comes just after CBOE withdrew its Bitcoin ETF application due to the prolonged government shutdown.
Bitmain's Future In Question After Suffering Massive Losses In 2018
Nothing went right for Chinese mining giant Bitmain in 2018. It began with the falling demand for mining equipment as the market started crashing. After mining profitability dropped, miners started selling their equipment for scrap. Its next big failure was the IPO. For months, the company tried to raise Billions of dollars through an IPO in Hong Kong. However, they failed to convince regulators. At an uncertain time like this, Bitmain burnt a massive amount of money by betting on Bitcoin Cash. The fork in November wiped out Bitmain's assets by a large extent. Bitmain has already fired a significant part of its staff globally and slowed down by its mining operations. Its future is now in question and is heavily dependent on the crypto market making a comeback soon.

These 750 firms are said to be valued at $27m in total with Dfinity, Cardano, Bitmain and Ethereum being valued at more than $1Billion.
Ethereum Classic Advocate Still Favours PoW After 51% Attack
A significant amount of money was lost after Ethereum Classic was subject to a 51% attack last month. However, Anthony Lusardi, US Director of the Ethereum Classic Cooperative believes that Proof of Work (PoW) is still the best way to run a blockchain. Lusardi feels immutability needs to be preserved and every user has the right to control their own keys. He recognizes the convenience and impact of successful centralization. However, no matter how good the centralized structure is, there is no guarantee that it would remain that way forever.
Everyone is always obsessed with the future state of Ethereum but I actually think what it can do today is pretty damn cool too.
Make it your routine to ask every business owner whether they accept #Bitcoin. Whether you're at a bakery, beauty parlor, mechanic, dentist, restaurant, whatever. You need to mention it to merchants. The more they hear it, the more they'll look into integrating it.
